I live in Corfu (Kerkyra), where I was born and raised, a stunning small green island at the north west side of Greece.
Crochet knitting for me is all about sweet, past time memories. I remember my grandmother and mother during those winter early evenings, grey and cold outside, the radio playing in the background, introducing me into the world of crochet knitting, and day by day finding myself deeply appreciating the passion and hard work behind each handmade creation.
At secondary and high-school, all girls back then, part of our curriculum was the subject of Home Economics. Amongst other skills, we were taught various types of knitting. My childhood memories, deeply engraved within me, with my grandmother and mother teaching me crochet knitting were awakened and so was my desire to create my own art.
With this tiny nickel object with the curved point and a bit of yarn one can bring to life things unique and magical. Whilst turning the crochet, each knot leads to the next, and my sweetest emotions and thoughts become one with the yarn. With love and patience, I reach the finishing line, looking at my beloved creation which, in my eyes, looks back at me with the same excitement and longing as I do.
My passion for these unique creations, in a time when we are surrounded by manufactured, non-personalised products, led me to establishing Ddora.
